Who you are:

You enjoy the challenge of uncovering information that is not always readily available and connecting the dots between our work and what is happening in the industry. You enjoy coordinating with others to deliver applications and reports on time. You are skilled at conveying technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences and have the ability to put both a business and technical lense on issues.

What you will do:

  • Research Canadian, US, and Europe government funding programs available for for-profit organizations and application information to assess company alignment with specific funding opportunities.

  • Liaise with external funding organizations to identify opportunities for funding for-profit projects and confirm financial and reporting requirements.

  • Analyzing and interpreting the grant/fund requirements, owning the development of a clear and focused strategy, business case, and clarifying issues, as needed.

  • Driving the internal teams development and completion of grant applications ensuring the process is followed and timelines are defined and communicated.

  • Writing strategic, concise, accurate content and editing/updating existing content for the grant/fund responses, as applicable to the submission.

  • Owning the proposal production process, including gaining internal approvals, finalizing deliverables, quality control, coordination of delivery and aligning all efforts with internal and external professionals to ensure on-time, compliant and winning submissions.

  • Once the grant is secured, continue to drive the relationship with the funding organization.

  • Ownership of all grant reporting during the project, including market, technical, and detailed financial reports.

Requirements

We want you to succeed, so you will need:

  • Degree in Business, Agriculture or another relevant discipline

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in researching grant opportunities, developing proposals and writing successful grant applications

  • Understanding of accounting and finance practices; ability to interpret an income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement

  • Experience in writing business cases

  • Strong decision making skills, ability to work with limited information

  • Excellent business writing and presentation skills

  • Ability to work under pressure and tight timelines

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive payroll and financial information

  • Significant initiative and independence in carrying out project work
